Quick Guide: Setting up & optimizing your Indeed company page.
When it comes to hiring top talent, having a strong online presence is crucial. Establishing a consistent company profile on various platforms, such as Indeed, is essential for attracting the right candidates and showcasing your company culture. In this post, we'll walk you through the steps to create and optimize your Indeed Company Profile, discuss branding best practices, and explore how to build a solid talent pipeline.
Creating Your Indeed Company Profile
Creating a company profile on Indeed is a straightforward simple process.
Step 1: Start by signing up for an Employer-Account using your company email address. If your company has previously posted a job on Indeed, a company page will automatically be generated, which you can claim.
Step 2: Click on “Company Reviews” at the top of your page, search for your company name.
If you cannot find your company page, this is likely because you have never posted a job on Indeed. You must post a position on Indeed to create a company profile. Once a job has been posted, Indeed will auto-generate a company profile that you can claim.
Step 3: Click on the company name that best matches your company name.
If you’ve ever posted a position under your company name on Indeed, a company page will automatically be created.
Step 4: Determine if your page exists and if it has been claimed
When viewing the company profile, click on the tab “Why join us?”
If your page HAS NOT been claimed, you will see a button that says “Claim this company page” (Directions, skip to 4a)
If your page HAS been claimed, you will see a button that says “Claimed Profile” (Directions, skip to 4b).
Step 4a: To claim, click on this button and you will be prompted one more time to claim the profile. You will receive an email when it has been accepted/declined. Please remember, you will need a company email to claim the profile.
Step 4b. If you previously posted the job with your company email, your account will automatically be linked with your company profile and you can skip below to “Setting up your company profile.” If your profile is claimed but you're not sure who owns it, you will need to contact Indeed to make the change.
Enhancing Your Indeed Company Profile
To make optimize your profile and make it stand out, consider adding:
Company logo and website
Current team member names and short bios
Contact details (consider creating a jobs@companyname.com email)
Mission statement
Products and services
A brief "About Us" section
Awards, recognitions, and client testimonials
Photos and videos showcasing your company culture
A catchy one-liner (e.g., Talent Track Example: "Transforming talent acquisition, on your terms.")
Make sure your job postings are routed correctly to your company page, and consider including pay ranges for transparency. This can help attract more qualified applicants and build trust.
Further Tips for Success:
Edit Your “Why Join Us” page:
After logging into your employer profile, click on your name on the top right to view your options as an employer.
Click on “Company Page”
When you are on your company page as the claimed profile owner, click on the tab “Why join us,” click “edit page,” from there you will be redirected to edit each section of your page.
As a starting point, update as much as you can and with consistency across your brand. If you have a marketing department, I recommend partnering with your marketing team/partner to ensure consistent messaging.
Stand out! Consider this part of your overall company branding strategy
Jobs: If you are posting on an applicant tracking system, make sure your jobs are landing on your company page. If not, reach out to your ATS provider to ensure they are routing correctly.
Pro-tip: If you are ONLY posting with paid job ads on Indeed, this is expensive and may not be the only way. Consider a discovery call with Talent Track.
Pay transparency, we highly recommend including the pay range. While many companies are still hesitant, studies show that jobs that do this attract more qualified applicants because it builds trust and transparency. For more details, see here: https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/pay-salary/pay-transparency-update
Photos and videos: Include photos that promote your authenticity and culture and show future teammates what it’s like working there. Also, consider client videos or testimonials if you have them showing candidates how their work inspired the end user/participant/product, etc…
Responding to positive & negative reviews: Both are equally important and should be done within 48 hours.
Positive review: thank the reviewer, let them know the importance of a satisfied experience, and highlight a specific detail and why that is important to your organization by tying it back to your mission or values, if it’s a job they didn’t get, encourage them to apply in the future.
Negative review: Apologize for a bad experience, explain the plan to address this, how the feedback helps future processes/decisions, offer a contact to directly connect regarding the concern. After all, the way your team handles feedback can be more powerful than the feedback itself.
Candidate Attraction: Understanding what motivates prospective candidates and your current employees, will be the key to your recruiting and retention strategy. Candidates are less interested in having beer on tap or company-hosted holiday parties.
Examples:
Mission Driven:
If part of your company’s mission is to build a meaningful community, highlight a current event or initiative that your company took part in as part of your mission. Why did you choose that event? Who was involved?
If one of your employees is participating in a fundraiser or event, encourage & promote it!
Growth Opportunities:
Highlight a current employee’s promotion, how they earned their promotion, and why you value that employee's contribution.
Benefits:
Just like pay transparency, promote and show your benefits on your website & Indeed. Candidates care about this and are often hesitant to ask.
